Thy Kingdom Come
All the great civilisations and kingdoms of the past, though they flourished for a while, ended in failure, chaos, disaster and death. Modern Super Powers and unions of nations will inevitably go the same way , and that, for the same reason, human sin and fallibility.
In contrast, God’s Kingdom, is an everlasting Kingdom, and will flourish throughout eternity.
We can experience the reality of that Kingdom now, in glorious measure, and in the future enter into it’s eternal fullness.
Jesus taught us to pray to God ” Thy Kingdom come”. In all it’s totality this prayer will only be answered at the Second Advent of our Lord Jesus Christ. However, the spiritual power of God’s Kingdom can be known now, in a daily increasing measure, in the hearts of true believers.
God’s kingdom comes to everyone who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ as the One who died upon the cross to save us from our sins, and rose triumphantly from the grave and lives in the power of endless life, mighty to save.
Believing in Christ as Saviour brings the eternal life and love of God’s Kingdom into our hearts and then flows out from us to be an influence for good in the world around us.
Our own personal kingdoms have within them the seeds of destruction, as all earthly things do, and that because of sin. It is only as we pray for God’s Kingdom to come to our hearts that we enter into that which is unalloyed, indestructible, forever beautiful and perfect.
Call upon the Lord Jesus Christ, today, in prayer. Ask for His forgiveness and that your heart and life will be filled with the wonderful love, peace and joy of His Kingdom.
